Game day, and the rest of the week

If a kid has a birthday coming up, the Illinois Fighting Illini jersey is the gift that gets worn before the cake is cut. It goes straight on and stays on for the rest of the day. Not many presents get that reaction, so it is worth knowing about.

How it is made

The Illinois Fighting Illini jersey is finished so that the surface stays level across the whole front. Large areas of color come out the same shade as small ones, with no ridge where two elements meet. It is a finish that rewards looking closely, and it stays that way after the first wash.

Washing and everyday wear

Turn it inside out, wash it cold with the rest of the laundry, and hang it to dry — nothing special needed. Keep the iron away from the pressed graphics, and fold it like any other shirt between games. The Illinois Fighting Illini jersey asks for no looking after beyond that.

Questions buyers ask

• How is the design applied to this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey?

The numerals and letters on this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey are heat-pressed onto the White fabric, so the surface stays smooth with no raised edge. It is a lighter garment for it, and the color reads evenly across the whole design.

• Will the White fade on this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey in the wash?

Wash it cold, inside out, and hang it to dry: the White on this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey holds evenly through weekly laundry. Keep the iron off the pressed graphics and skip high dryer heat, and no other special care is needed.

• How does the White Illinois Fighting Illini jersey fit compared with a T-shirt?

This Illinois Fighting Illini jersey is cut a little closer than a casual T-shirt through the chest and shoulders, in the youth size range, while the White body leaves room to layer. Most buyers take their usual size; a looser game-day drape means one size up.

• Whose name is on the back of this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey?

Nobody's — the back of this Illinois Fighting Illini jersey stays plain in the White colorway, with the pressed team graphics on the front carrying the look. That makes it a safe pick for fans who do not want a name that leaves when rosters turn over.
